One of the great things about doing a makeover on furniture is that you have a lot of control of the finished product and style statement you create. For this project, I started with a pair of relatively modern looking chairs. Their basic shape lends to suiting several decorating styles.
With the use of different paint colors and fabrics, the end result makes them both cottage chic and contemporary pieces. Although paint color is important, I am big believer in starting with a fabric. The red floral fabric on the antique white chair is something I found 5 or 6 years ago. I have moved so many times, it is might be racking up its own frequent flyer miles.
For the chair with my recently acquired sherbet fabric, I wanted a darker color to make the fabric pop, but not be a throw away element. The deep grey is a great neutral color that complements the fabric and makes the modern elements of the chair stand out as well.
