One of the easiest ways to change up a room is to add some accessories to your existing decorations. If you aren't sure how to select colors, one of the best ways is to look at the fabrics you have in the room. If you have a patterned fabric, you can select one of the colors in the fabric. I would recommend that you pick one of the secondary colors. For example, the fabric in the photo is mostly cream, but has teal and lime green accents. Those colors make an ideal choice.
If you have all solid colors, you can easily pick a coordinating palate. Not sure where to start? Paint companies are great resources. They are all about complimentary and coordinating colors. These companies spend a lot of time each year to create up-to-date palettes for a number of styles. Three great places to try are:

Once you have a range of colors for your room, you can even mix and match those hues with other accessories in different textures, shapes and sizes. Candles and votive are a great way to inject a little color without worrying about the size of the accessory. Bring color with a quilted votive collection, or you can add a rose garden to your home with a wonderful blooming rose votive. Available in a number of colors, you can place these as a great accent in any room.
By adding small accessories, you are bringing some color and personality into whatever room you are decorating in an easy, affordable way.
Enjoy!
