To give the look some visual interest, I used two large pulls and three small pulls to total up five hooks for me to use. The project was pretty easy. I just took off the hardware including the hinges and the handle. For this project, I left off the plate under the handle because I felt it simplified the look of the handle a bit.
Since the door already had a great color of blue painted on it, I painted it with antique white. While the paint was drying, I did a distressing rub with a sanding square. Once that dried, I did another coat, let that dry and then did another distressing with sand paper.

However, I kind of like the idea of keeping the extra hardware to give a nod to its origin.
Overall, the project was really quick and super affordable. I mean, these drawer pulls are only $5 for the large ones and $3 for the small ones in the store. That tallies $19 and the remainder of the project was about $4 for the door, some paint and the hook and wire I attached on the back to mount it on the wall.
Cheers,
Linda
